Is Blogging The Spinach For Your Website?

Spinach steamed
Hello All!

Welcome to the new Coaching-Websites weblog, a.k.a. blog. We here at Coaching-Websites have decided to start a blog to give our users some helpful hints, words of wisdom and all around sound advice on the ownership and operation of a good quality website. We will be keeping the discussion centered around things we think people should know about website SEO, design and documentation.

This blog will be geared toward Coaching-Websites users and we will keep it chock full of information about our website editor, development projects, new content ideas and various other unique services. However, this doesn’t mean that if you don’t own a website with us you won’t get valuable information here! We will also be regularly posting important information for anyone looking to improve their web presence. And who knows? After reading our blog, you may decide that Coaching-Websites is the team you want in your court for creating your website and building your practice. We pride ourselves in having the best team and most effective tools all designed to give you more clients, more money, and more freedom.

If you are a Coaching-Websites client, potential customer or just an interested party and you have a question or issue you would like us to be blogging about, just let us know. We are working hard to make this blog a useful tool, so feel free to ask us a question or comment on a post. We love to hear from you!

However, today’s blog post isn’t just about the new Coaching-Websites blog. (Although, it is shiny and totally sweet.) Today’s post is about YOUR blog. What’s that? You don’t have one yet? You should, and here’s why:

Blog posting is not just about people touting their good ideas or keeping the world posted on their personal stories. Blog posts are a valuable tool where you can demonstrate your expertise, both to Search Engines such as Google, and to visitors to your website.

You see, I have a confession to make: I don’t like writing a blog either. They require constant attention and a steady stream of new ideas. They force you to tend to them like children. If you don’t keep it up with regular posts, people either forget about you or they find old posts and leave comments reflecting their frustration that posts aren’t current. Despite all this, writing a blog is one of the most important things you can do for your business.

Blog writing is the chance to show potential clients that you know what you are talking about. It is the chance to comment on the latest trends and make sure that anyone can know where you stand. It is also the chance to talk about yourself and your practice in a way that makes it clear that you are an authority in the field. Of course, it is also a chance to make yourself more human and create a personal relationship with any reader. And, as you know, that can make all the difference for clients struggling to choose a life coach or other mental health professional.

Blogs also tell search engines that you mean business. They know the website of a good blog writer is worth indexing, and worth indexing well, because a blog writer generates topical content on a regular basis. Google is able to identify content that is worth promoting for certain search results. It rewards sites with this kind of content by providing a prominent place in related searches.

So go, right now, and write down a dozen ideas for things that you either have always wanted to talk about or things you find yourself telling every single one of your clients. Then, once you have a dozen ideas, just pick one and start writing about it. You will find that it is really easy once you get started. Even if the whole thing seems like it will be tedious and a huge investment right now, just start. Even if you decide that you hate blogging, just think of it like eating your spinach; it’s good for you. It is good for your SEO and it is good for telling potential clients that your business is worth talking about.

We are going to write a post soon on how to integrate a blog from any blogging service into your Coaching-Websites website. So check back regularly to keep up with all the latest news and learn how to fully integrate a blog with your Coaching-Websites service. For now though if you just start writing one post, maybe sign up for a blogging service and get going there, you will be well on your way to better Search Engine rankings!
